Message to Members - Re Acting District Governor

DG Leo Farrelly OAM needs to take a short break from his role as District Governor. In the interim, Past District Governor Michael Moore AM has been approved by the District Board as acting District Governor. Please put any requests or issues through to the Acting DG or through to the Secretary until further notice.

Protecting the Environment

In 2021 our District embraced the new worldwide Rotary International focus on “Protecting the Environment” and formed a District team of experienced Rotarians called “Environmental Envoys” to liaise with and support clubs interested in pursuing new environmental projects. We recruited the team of 16 Envoys mid year, and have recruited over 45 “club environmental representatives” since. Additional nominations of club representatives are being sought from the remaining club Presidents in early 2022.

Welcome Concert

Fred Smith Charity Concert to welcome the Afghanistan Evacuees to Australia - Friday 17 Feb 2022, Canberra Playhouse

Fred Smith will be presenting a special concert to welcome to Canberra recent evacuees from Afghanistan and celebrate the efforts of public servants and Defence Force members during the evacuation. Backed by an all-star band, he will be performing songs from his acclaimed Dust of Uruzgan album as well as new material drawing on his experiences working on the evacuation.
