Request for Expressions of Interest

Several of our District’s Rotarians are looking at setting up a breakfast event in Canberra on International Women’s Day (IWD) 2022 (Tuesday March 8th) and are looking for Rotarians interested in working together in planning and running the event. At this stage, it is not anticipated the breakfast will be specifically under the IWD banner, rather it will be an opportunity to showcase the input of women within Rotary and beyond and if successful will become an annual event on the Canberra calendar.  The plan is to provide a networking opportunity and will enable an increased interest in Rotary within the region and hopefully will progress to an increase in membership.

The event is only in concept stage and its success will depend on a number of factors. These include any pandemic restrictions at the time, quality of venue, speaker and participation. It is hoped that other regions in the district may also want to join in and hold their own event on the day with the possibility of streaming the Guest Speaker (tbc) presentation to other venues (if not cost prohibitive).

Volunteers are required to join the committee and there will also be opportunities for preparation in advance of the event for those who wish to assist in the shorter term only. In the flavour of equity and diversity, expressions of interest are open to all Rotarians.

About International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.

IWD has occurred for well over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere. IWD is not country, group or organisation specific. https://www.internationalwomensday.com/
