Welcome to the Rotary Year 2017-18

Hello, my name is George and my team and I are here to help you. I am looking forward to meeting and working with you all in the next twelve months.
My focus areas will be:
Clubs, support and growth
Youth, using Rotary to give them the best opportunities
Foundation, Rotary’s own charity.
The Directory has been sent to all of you and it is easy to use, with links to all information you may need in the future. Please take the time to learn how to use it. It won’t take long. I must thank Paul Murray for his hard work in producing this document. This is a huge job that takes months of work. Thank you Paul.
In the coming newsletters, I would like to feature stories from clubs and their activities and successes. I would like to feature 4 clubs each month. If your club would like to have a story in the District Newsletter, please send a prepared story with photos to District Secretary, Marilyn Roberts, robwag2@bigpond.com. The story should be no longer than an A4 page, with no more than two photos.
I have commenced by DG visits and Carol and I have enjoyed the welcome and hospitality from the clubs. We are looking forward to the next few month visiting all clubs in the district.

District 9700 has received advice and information from RI Director Noel Trevaskis in regards to Redistricting concerning D9700 and 9710. The two district will become one on 1st July 2020. I have set up a Redistricting Committee. The members of the committee are: -
- IPDG Michael Milston. (Chair)
- DGE John Glassford
- DGN John McKenzie
- PDG Gary Roberts
- PP Joann McRae
- And myself
We are having an initial informal meeting (the first of many) in Young on the Thursday 27th July 2018 @ 11am (requested by D9710) to “ get to know each other”. We will bring information to you on a regular bases. If any Club or Rotarian has advice, questions or concerns. Please contact me. It is a historical and exciting time for our district. I feel that there will be no great changes affecting the clubs at a local level. The main changes will be the administration of the district(s) with such areas as, but not limited to:-
- Selecting DG’s
- AG’S groups and responsibilities,
- Rotarians wishing to serve on many of the Rotary Committees and programs
- Where the District holds events, camps and interviews for a number of Rotary programs and projects
- District financials
