Art Dako Exhibition
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
The aim of this exhibition is to raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancer issues in an educational or humorous way. Creative works can be made in any medium and can involve men’s underwear, shorts, daks, codpieces, male anatomy or anything else that relates to male-only cancers.
This exhibition is designed to increase community awareness of issues around male-only cancers, specifically testicular and prostate cancer. The
exhibition will have both creative and educational components involving community groups and individuals (particularly males) without geographical restriction. The creative component will consist of displays and the sale of visual arts items in multi-media; the educational component will be provided by relevant groups such as the Cancer Council, Orange Prostate Support Group and Lifeline.
The Club is calling for expressions of interest from people who can paint, sculpt, weld, weave, write, knit, carve, crochet, pot, cook, sew, quilt, photograph, embroider, scrapbook, arrange flowers, or create lace, felt, jewellery, icing or paper art to showcase their talent at this exhibition.
Creative works need to involve a theme related to men’s underwear or shorts, daks or codpieces, male anatomy or anything that relates to male-only cancers. Exhibits can be humorous and should convey a message to raise awareness and educate the community on male-only cancers. The exhibit will be similar to the Bra Art event that has a vision for breast cancer awareness. (See website link http://www.australianexplorer.com/events/9151010/profile.htm).
There will be no fee to exhibit and prizes will not be awarded. The donation of items for sale on a commission basis is encouraged but items can be marked “not for sale”. An entry donation will be requested from members of the community to view the exhibition.
