DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S MESSAGE

I would like to bring a renewed enthusiasm to Rotary and our communities and “Doing Good In The World”.  We need to seek out ways of serving our communities that resonate with potential Rotarians and “Make Our Clubs, The Place To Be”.

All our actions in providing community facilities, events and humanitarian aid add to our advancement of peace. Eradicating polio, providing safe drinking water, supporting the fight against domestic violence, creating awareness of the Peace Communities Program, training teachers in Nepal and many other initiatives all make our world a more peaceful place to live.

We often hail our youth programs as our flagship events, but we rarely accord them the praise and resources they deserve. We need to promote these programs to our youth and to the public and engage the youth of our communities and ensure they see the value of “Service Above Self”.

Paul Harris embraced the concept of business networking through fellowship. We appear to have lost the path as we seem to see them as two separate spheres of enterprise. I want to encourage you to engage with your business communities unashamedly and see they understand the benefits of good corporate citizenship to their company and community at large. 

I have created an additional position on the District Board titled Director for Public Image because we need to overcome the secret society mentality and make our clubs “The Place to Be”. I have appointed PDG John Egan to this position,  John will be looking to see what we are doing and how we can tell the world about the wonderful achievements of Rotary and expanding the use of Social Media as a way of communicating this to the world. 
I urge you to join us on this great adventure and become a “Gift To the World”
