Island of Jersey became the 60th peace community on 8 May 2015.
The Rotary Club of Jersey has been working toward the recognition of The Island of Jersey as a Rotary Peace Community since 2012. It is the first Rotary Peace Community to be declared in the British Isles.

The ceremony was attended by President of Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland, District Governor 1110, Peter Jackson the Chief Minister of Jersey, Senator Ian Gorst, who was presented with the Rotary Book of Peace to mark the occasion and about 120 supporters who have expressed a desire to work with rotary to create an island community free of conflict and one in which people can live in peace and harmony.

The Book of Peace contains messages of support from diverse local organisations which agree with the 5 Rotary Peace Principles (known here as the Peace Credo) and will abide by them in their activities. Unfortunately, the logo used on this occasion is mistakenly that of The Rotary Foundation’s Peace Fellowships Centres which we have been advised is not appropriate. Our club really needs to ensure the continuation of our initiative is recognised worldwide with the correct logo.
