Maternal and Child Health Partners Program

Most of you will have heard my passionate plea for the women in Africa and around the world who suffer and die while trying to create life. Your support of this program in this area of focus has been very encouraging and together we can make a difference to these families. We are all so lucky to enjoy our families and nurture our children and watch them grow into wonderful contributing adults and then watch them become parents and see them nurture their own families. Let’s help Rotary Foundation give this opportunity to others around the world.
Gary and I have had the pleasure of bestowing the following PHF awards.
Robert Bowcher from South Wagga Rotary Club
Robert has worked for two years to try and secure a Prostate Specialist Nurse for the MLHD Area, again through persistent lobbying of Politicians well supported by our local media. He has been working very closely with some high profile people to try and convince Government that a Prostate Specialist Nurse is critical to rural areas like ours. Thanks to Robert and his many supporters Prostate Cancer sufferers in the Wagga area will benefit from the support of a Prostate Cancer Specialist nurse in the very near future.
Trevor Bedggood from Henty Rotary ClubTrevor has tirelessly supported Henty Rotary Club in many varied activities. He is the partner of Rotarian Noelene and together they work hard to support Rotary and their town. Trevor was surprised and amazed that he should be award such an honour and I am thrilled that Henty chose Trevor as I am aware of just what a “quiet achiever” he is .
Jan Roberts from Wollundry Rotary ClubThe Club chose to award a PHF to Jan Roberts who is prominent in helping women in crisis. President Geoff listed off the accomplishments and involvement of this amazing lady, which include tireless work in supporting women in violent and threatening situations. She has been on the Committee of Wagga Women's Health Centre for more than 35 yrs, and is currently vice president. She has been involved with Sister Housing, and Linden Place which supports the victims of child sexual assault.
Jan is truly an outstanding community person, well chosen to receive a Paul Harris Fellow.
Paul Cox from Rotary Club of Orange CalareGary and I had the pleasure of witnessing the awarding of another PHF to Paul Cox, Paul is an energetic and tireless worker for Rotary and his recent efforts for the Ice Forums has been outstanding. Well done Paul, and to Judy as well who was presented with flowers for her support to Paul in his endeavours.

Best wishes and keep up the good work for Rotary.
