QN 22 - District Awards at Changeover
At the recent District Changeover, I was pleased to be able to provide a number of Awards to individuals and Clubs where they have met the criteria for the various awards. The Awards are listed with the winning Rotary Clubs in the Read More ... section, so please visit to see the full list.
The Rotarian of the Year was awarded to Sue Gordon of the Rotary Club of Young - Sue's commitment to Serving Humanity, through Rotary and her many pursuits, embodies the key values of being a Rotarian, and she is well deserving of the Award of 2016-17 District 9700 Rotarian of the Year.
The Outstanding Rotarian of the Year Award for Contribution to Rotary International was awarded to Bruce Duffy of the Rotary Club of South Wagga Wagga The central feature in Bruce’s commitment to Rotary and to Serving Humanity is his inspirational leadership style, his shrewd negotiation, and enthusiasm.
The other awards include for Membership Growth, End Polio and Rotary Foundation Contributions, and contributions to Australian Rotary Health.

THE DISTRICT GOVERNOR’S ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD
Awarded to the Rotarian in D9700 who in the opinion of the District Governor has during the year made the greatest contribution to the community through Rotary service
And the award goes to ...
Sue Gordon, Rotary Club of Young
Sue Gordon joined Rotary in 1999 and has served the Young community and District for many years.
She has a strong work ethic and an even stronger sense of fairness and commitment to serving humanity. Sue was elected Rotary Club of Young President in 2011-2012, and has held a number of board positions and she is nearly always lending a hand at club service activities and fundraisers.
One of Sue's passions are programs to support and build capacity in young people. Sue has served on the District Youth Exchange committee for 10 years, serving as Councillor, tour chaperone to Denmark with exchange students, and with her husband, Richard, who have acted as house parents for Youth Exchange Students on Safari. Sue has acted in leadership positions in a number of Local, State and National roles seeking improved services for young people.
In recent times, Sue has served at the District level executive board level as District Administration Director, under three Governors. In this role Sue has overseen the important governance development of the District, compliance with insurance and risk management requirements, and communication with Clubs about their own governance and risk capabilities. Sue has been acknowledged with a Paul Harris Fellow recognition.
Sue's commitment to Serving Humanity, through Rotary and her many pursuits, embodies the key values of being a Rotarian, and she is well deserving of the Award of 2016-17 District 9700 Rotarian of the Year.
BRUCE GRUBER OUTSTANDING ROTARIAN OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR CONTRIBUTION TO ROTARY INTERNATIONAL
Awarded to the Rotarian in D9700 who, in the opinion of the District Governor, has during the Rotary year made the most significant contribution to the work of Rotary International. The contribution may be at local, national or international level.

Bruce Duffy, Rotary Club of South Wagga Wagga The central feature in Bruce’s commitment to Rotary and to Serving Humanity is his inspirational leadership style, his shrewd negotiation, and enthusiasm. While Bruce has contributed to his own community he has, over the last 10 years, made a special contribution to working with the people of Nepal, having first travelled there on a RAWCS Project. He has now been back to Nepal more than 20 times.

Awarded to the Rotary Club of Oberon with 50% growth
B the highest net growth in number of Rotarians
Awarded to the Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak with a net new 8 Rotarians
THE DISTRICT AUSTRALIAN ROTARY HEALTH AWARD
Awarded to the club that during the Rotary year has contributed the highest per capita giving to Australia Rotary Health
Awarded to Rotary Club of Wagga Wagga Sunrise with a contribution equivalent to almost $143 per Rtn

Awarded to the Club, in the Rotary Year, with the highest
