Rotary Club of Orange members had a great day in July at the Donations in Kind (DIK) warehouse at Minchinbury. DIK is a recycling and reuse program run by Rotary providing donated items to countries in need of goods for health and education. Their work involves collection, sorting, packing, dispatch and distribution logistics.For ten years DIK has used a warehouse owned by the Salvation Army, rent free, which has been a great partnership for Rotary. The Salvation Army now needs the space back. Rotarians had a smashing time breaking down old tables, collapsing cardboard boxes, packing up the kitchen and moving pallets for pick up and general tidying up.
Thanks to President Denise, Adrian, Matt, Stuart, John T and Don for making the trip to help out the Rotarians who manage the DIK. Miriam Jacka, the DIK Coordinator, and Janice Harvey, Treasurer of RAWCS Eastern Region really appreciated the Club’s efforts on the day as they get closer to moving to their new premises. We encourage other District 9700 Clubs to visit the DIK website, put their Club name on the roster and travel to Sydney to help with their operation. It is an excellent day out and will be much appreciated by the DIK Rotarians.
